My son was recently scheduled for coblation tosillectomy, being only 8 years old and on the ASD spectrum this was terrifying for him. Long story short the date rolled around and it was our turn to head to Ward 31.
Straight away we were met by the most amazing team of staff. We were greeted by Valerie who checked my son in and took his weight and height and showed him to his bed for the day. Sharon came in next, who we had previously met at my son's pre-op appointment, and yet again she was amazing, not only at reassuring my son but keeping myself and his dad fully reassured and updated with proceedings.
Both these two ladies popped in and out very regularly to check my son throughout his stay, nothing was too much trouble, endless juice, toast, ice cream and lollies if we asked he got it straight away, and even though there were other children on that ward they managed to make us feel like my son was the only child there because of the attention they gave ,as they did to every other child.
I would also like to say a massive thank you to Laura and Simon (the sleepy doctors) once again they made themselves known to us and came for a quick chat before surgery, and even after that hard part when the mask was on my son's face they really reassured me before I left.
Thank you all so much, you all played a massive part in making an extremely hard day just a little bit easier. Such a fantastic team on that ward !!!
"Such a fantastic team"
