(The previous year, I had a biopsy on the site of the above operation. The preparation for the procedure was meticulous, including being required to wear a bonnet to cover my hair, which was carefully tucked inside.)
On the date of the operation above, I was not required to wear a head covering and no attempt was made to restrain my hair. Following the procedure and upon removal of the dressing, I found that several strands of my hair, still attached to my head had been stitched into the wound. I subsequently had three different incidents of infection in the site, all requiring antibiotics. It’s too early to say whether this might affect the eventual healing process. At my check up for the procedure four months later, I mentioned this to the clinician, but she dismissed my concerns. I had been reluctant to raise the issue, and felt that my concerns had not been fully addressed.
