My wife checked out several NHS locations for my father In Law ( who was diagnosed with a terminal illness) to spend his last days. Having been very disappointed with the accommodation provided by some she was delighted with Ellens Glen House and her father was moved there.
However, despite some of the staff being very friendly and caring, both my wife and her sister found some staff abrupt and indifferent.
The real problem was with some of the night staff who made my father in law ( who is not a difficult man) feel as if he was being a burden. To such an extent that rather than ask for help he took himself to the toilet and had a fall.
People go to this place knowing that it their final home before they die and should be treated with extra care, consideration, kindness and interaction not made to feel that they are a burden.
"Uncaring staff"
