"Their approach to my care contributed greatly to my continuing recovery"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Enhanced Care / Acute Care at Home

(as the patient),

I want to congratulate the SHSCT Acute Care at Home Service. They rescued me from an awful night spent in ED in Daisy Hill Hospital recently. My admission through the ED to a reclining chair on a corridor was a distressing experience, made worse by what I felt was the awful communication between staff and myself as a patient.

I was lucky, Acute Care at Home accepted me onto their caseload. What a difference. From the beginning I felt safe. At all times I was kept informed, my opinion was sought and I experienced the highest levels of true patient centred care.

They listened to my concerns and worries and if I had questions, these were answered quickly. The team always followed up. They attended my home when they said they would be there. All members of the team without exception treated me with respect and dignity.

I cannot thank them enough. I know their approach to my care contributed greatly to my continuing recovery.  An excellent service

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your recent experience with the Acute Care at Home Team. I'm pleased that you found the service beneficial and that they have helped with your recovery.

Acute Care at Home aim to provide care to avoid people being admitted to a hospital bed and as you experienced this can happen in the Emergency Department to help our hospital colleagues identify patients who can be safely managed in their own home.

I will feedback to the team that you felt safe and listened to, that you were treated with dignity and respect and that your care was patient centred.

Take care
