"Standing around chatting"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

Entered the endoscopy suite and waited for half an hour after my appointment, then went through to suite where at least 6 staff members were standing about chatting for a least 20 mins .

I do not see the need for as many in this department when other parts of the hospital are short-staffed. I think this should be addressed sooner rather than later.

Dear sibella

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience within the Endoscopy Unit with us via Care Opinion.

I am very sorry to read that you had a lengthy wait after your appointment slot and that no-one provided you with an update on waiting times. Please be assured that this is not the person-centred care that we aim for.

Whilst we always aim to provide care that safe, caring and respectful, we do recognise that sometimes there is room for improvement. Hearing of this directly from our patients is one of the best ways for us to learn and improve.

Your observations of the staff whilst in the Unit and your experience of waiting beyond your appointment time have been passed to the Endoscopy Unit for reflection and learning, to allow them the opportunity to improve the experience for other people attending the Department.

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge her care experience.

best Wishes

Pamela
