I just wanted to share my positive experience of wisdom tooth extraction surgery at the dental hospital.
I had the surgery with just a local anaesthetic.
Everyone involved was so kind and made me feel as comfortable as possible throughout the whole procedure. I was very anxious as I hate going to the dentist at the best of times, but everyone in the room during my surgery made me feel totally at ease. The dental student, dental nurses, and oral surgeon were all lovely and reassured me the whole way through. They even let me take a little break halfway through as I was getting uncomfortable. They communicated exactly what was going on at every stage, which was very calming for me personally as an autistic person.
I have a few more teeth still to be removed, and obviously it will never be a completely pleasant experience, but I am feeling much less nervous about the next time as I know I am in safe hands :)
I particularly want to point out how kind and professional the final year dental student was. I think she will be a fantastic dentist when she qualifies :) All of the dental students I have met at the dental hospital have been great, which shows how good the teaching at the dental hospital is.
