My birth was beautiful and despite having a 3rd degree tear and a forceps delivery I can still romanticise most of my experience.
My midwives were incredible, Laura and Beverley took really good care of me in the beginning of my labour. Laura has a fantastic energy about her that put me at ease and she made me laugh! She worked quickly when solving my blood pressure issue and kept me calm and collected during the scary moments.
I was handed over to Ashley and Jamie-lee and they did a great job getting me to the pushing stage when unfortunately I was told I would likely need forceps. They were professional and kept the mood light and positive the entire time. Kellie was phenomenal. I would really like to say, her and Laura really stood out to me. Kellie advocated for me and worked to combine the birth I wanted with the birth that could safely be achieved. She got me time to push a bit more so my sons head could come further down so he only needed small forceps from a wonderful doctor called Alice, rather than these massive salad tossers the original doctor suggested.
I'm so lucky Alice was the one who took over my instrumental delivery, she was so sweet and took the time to explain everything to me and keep me informed which I really appreciated. Dr. Abel was really kind when stitching me up and made me feel so much better. In recovery I had some care from Rowan who was just amazing and very knowledgeable. Although it may not have been the exact birth I had imagined, these amazing women were able to make it the best day of my life.
To everyone who I positively interacted with - Dr Bridgeman, Lynn(e), Tony, Lisa, Joan, Francis, Amanda and anyone else I missed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My baby and I are so grateful for each and every one of you!
