"Everyone was so kind and patient"

About: Victoria Hospital / Renal

(as the patient),

After being admitted recently to AU1 I was transferred to ward 22 the following day where I spent around 10 nights in the renal ward.

I just want to say a massive thank you to the staff there who made me feel at ease, they were so helpful and nothing was ever too much.

From the domestics who came in during the day, auxiliary nurses, staff nurses, students, doctors, physio and dieticians, everyone was polite and attentive.

Natalie and Carly made me feel human again in times where I felt like a zombie and just wanted home, I looked forward to when they were on shift. There was another lady, I'm sure her name was Carmen/ Karlyn (feel really bad I can't remember exactly), but she helped tidy my room and chat to me when I was feeling down.

Dr Gifford was excellent and any time I had questions or worries she was so efficient. When I thought I needed a letter to travel, Dr Gifford made a note to get on the case right away and make this a priority- when I know she would have a million other things to do, I feel this is the kind of patient care people dream of and everyone is certainly a credit to NHS.

I had to have bloods taken every day, 2 sometimes 3 drips attached to me at once, injections daily and for someone who has a phobia of needles everyone was so kind and patient with me at helping me overcome this.

Dear Hoodie158

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and share your thoughts and feelings of your stay in Ward 22. I am really pleased that we were able to make your stay in hospital less stressful and the staff were able to put you at ease. Having bloods taken can be quite a scary experience and it can heighten your phobia, so I am really happy to hear we were able to help alleviate these fears.

I want to thank you for your kind words and will pass this on to the team. I know they will be very grateful and I will ensure they recieve a copy.

I hope you are feeling better and if you require any further help or support please do not hesitate in contacting me or the SCN from Ward 22.

Best wishes

CNM Angela Glancey
