My Mother with Dementia was advised by GP to be taken to A&E with high blood sugars. The wait was 10 hours so my brother seeing her distress brought her home again.
Danielle, the district nurse, fought my mum's corner with the GP and got her insulin dose increased and has put a care plan in place for future high blood sugar readings.
Mum has avoided a 10-hour wait in A&E followed by potential admission to an acute bed. All of which would have been distressing for my Mum who has dementia and gets anxious when out of her home environment.
The community nursing team in Carryduff who look after my mum are so professional and committed to both my parents well being.
They are a credit to the Nursing profession.
