"Everyone has been very kind"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Daisy Hill Hospital / Male Medical

(as the patient),

I have just finished my time in Male Medical in Daisy Hill Hospital and this has been a pleasant experience.

My journey started when I fell at home and broke my knee bone, unfortunately for me A&E was extremely busy that night and I ended up waiting outside in an ambulance for 5 hours.

When I was assessed by a doctor, everything ran smoothly and I was admitted the next day.

As I cannot weight bear I have had to stay in bed for 8 weeks, the attention I have received from all the nurses and HCA's has been incredible, everyone has been so kind and very quick to respond.

I have seen so many patients come and go and the dedication and commitment the nursing staff have shown is exemplary.

Good Afternoon,

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review on your stay on Male Medical.

I am glad this has been a very positive experience for you.

I am sure it must have been very difficult for you to remain on bed rest for 8 weeks. I am just delighted to hear that you were happy with the care you received on the ward. I will ensure the staff are made aware of your kind comments. The staff will greatly appreciate this.

I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best in the future.

Sharon

Good afternoon lynxpg56

It sounds like you are on the way to recovery after a long rehabilitation and we hope that continues.

Unfortunately the reason you waited 5 hours in the ambulance was because the emergency department had a significant number of patients delayed waiting on an admission beds in the inpatient wards. When this happens the department runs out of free cubicle space for ambulance patients. Patients like you should be moved off an ambulance within 15 minutes.

Kind regards

Paul Smyth
