Anything else?
I was initially taken in to hospital with severe abdominal pain following contact with the NHS helpline number who advised I needed to get myself to A and E ASAP.I was seen relatively quickly by the triage nurse (who was a male and absolutely fantastic)I was admitted in to the jasmine ward which was relatively comfortable -good nurses and care assistants. However after several days the nhs consultant tried to send me home on painkillers even though I was still in a considerable amount of pain and had not been told what was causing the excruciating pain.At this point I was taking oromorph with codeine and paracetamol daily which meant I was so dosed up I didnt properly understand what was actually being said around me.When my partner arrived during visiting times I told him that I was being discharged and he was very surprised as I was still in pain and still visibly looked very unwell. My partner spoke to a very helpful nurse who said if we wanted to be seen more urgently than a 6 week out patient appointment then I needed to return to A and E if and when I was in pain.He told her that I was still in pain currently and if I was to be discharged I needed a wheelchair to get out to the car as I was too weak to walk. After a few minutes she returned and said that if I couldn't get myself out to the car then she didn't feel comfortable discharging me.After 6 days in hospital and being told that I had something wrong with my gall bladder but that it could take 3 years to have an operation on the NHS I felt my only option was to see a private consultant. I was seen by the private consultant (who explained everything in great detail, in a very caring manor) who booked me in to have keyhole surgery to remove my gall bladder about 3 days later and in fact what I had been suffering with was an acute gall bladder attack. When I arrived at the Kingston wing I was greeted with an amazing group of staff members who were all very caring and informative.I was impressed! I have since been very unwell post surgery as I had further complications (not a mistake on the private consultants behalf, the operation was very successful!)I had to return to the hospital as my gp was concerned about some symptoms I was experiencing where I was sent to ward 7a.I spent 3 days in this ward and I have never experienced anything as degrading in my life. The staff were incredibly rude, uncaring and dismissive. The complete opposite of what I had experienced earlier.I was so shocked whilst I was in hospital I didn't know what to do.One NHS consultant tried to examining me before reading my notes, which stated I had recently had surgery. This was only prevented due to a junior doctor jumping in and saying I had just had surgery and it might be sore! I am deeply saddened at the care I received during my time in ward 7a and as a medical proffesional myself find it unforgivable. I do not have private health care so this awful post op experience has cost me £4500. Than you NHS.
