"Birth of my baby"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as a parent/guardian),

When I arrived at DGRI as a first time mum to be in the middle of the night, I was terrified about what was to come. I was provided with pain relief to allow me to sleep a few hours and then given the midwifes Carly and Holly when I woke and they were just amazing.

The midwives knew of my natural birth plan and encouraged it, they were a great mental support and I gave birth to my daughter naturally. It may not have been the water bath as planned due to the relaxation of the bath slowing the contractions down, but I did get my water room which I was happy about.

The after care from the midwives for me and my baby was amazing and couldn't have done it without them.

Hi @Chelseymx23

Thank you for reaching out to us following your recent birth experience. I am happy to read that you felt the support and encouragement from the staff was helpful in achieving the birth you hoped for.

We do try to support individual choices and options and it is most rewarding when this is a positive experience. I will share your lovely feedback with Holly, Carly and the team and would like to wish you and your family well.

Best wishes
