"Urology admin staff member"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Urology (Ward 6) University Hospital Wishaw / Urology

(as the patient),

I was scheduled for a bladder operation a few weeks ago, the young lad Marc that organised everything was 2nd to none. Nothing was a problem for him, answering every question I wanted to know or finding out for me.

During the procedure i was fitted with a catheter and told i would have this removed 2 weeks later by the surgeon as the time got close to the 2 weeks i was told about i had heard nothing. I phoned the nurses number i was given who was nothing but rude.

Left in limbo and going on holiday i decided to give Marc a call to see if he could help. Again the service and care this member of staff gave me was outstanding, listening to my concerns and situation showing great professionalism in his area of work. He told me he would make a few calls and send a few emails. 20 minutes later i received a call from Wishaw urology to attend the clinic that afternoon to have a trial of voiding, my catheter was successful removed and i could get on with my life again.

Later on that day i tried to phone Marc to thank him but he had obviously finished and I didn't bother leaving a message. The next day Marc phoned just to make sure everything was sorted and if i needed anything else which you don't usually expect from staff in this day and age but this young mans compassion is 2nd to none and a lot more staff in the NHS could do with spending a day with Marc.

Later on that week i decided to hand in some chocolates just for the help Marc had given me not once but twice, from scheduling my theatre date to getting my catheter out, its not much but i feel like this young chap deserved something. Please pass on my thanks again to Marc who works within the urology department in Monklands hospital.

Dear LM72

Thank you so much for taking the time to highlight the excellent service you received from Marc whilst attending for Urology procedures.

It is lovely to hear such good feedback and I have passed this on to Marc and his Line Manager and Consultants.

I wish you well in your ongoing recovery.

Kind Regards

Lynn
