"High cannabis use daily smoking"

About: Hull ReNew

(as a service user),

I self referred to renew in March 2023 and started to work with my key worker Shawna in April. I was not sure at first what to expect from renew but I knew I wanted to address my cannabis use and debts. I was smoking daily and smoking £500 worth of cannabis daily.

I have been supported throughout by Shawna and she has been amazing she has a great way with words and doesn't believe in herself enough. She has been great and I am so thankful for everything. I am now 13 weeks and 2 days abstinent from cannabis.

I have had support for mental health and free legal advice. I felt listened to and was seen at a quieter renew which was better for me to attend. When I first started I was very emotional and couldn't last a full appointment. Now I am understanding myself more and sit and talk for a full hour.  I have also had a job interview recently which is a massive thing for me to do. I still have other things which I need to achieve but I am getting there and moving forward

Thank you for sharing your experience with ReNew and the incredible journey you've been on. It's truly inspiring to hear about the positive impact the service and your Recovery Coordinator have had on your life. It's clear that you've made significant progress in addressing your cannabis use and debts, and achieving 13 weeks and 2 days of abstinence from cannabis is a remarkable achievement.

Shawnna's dedication and support for you shine through in your words. It's heart-warming to know that she played a crucial role in your journey to recovery. Her commitment to your well-being and her ability to connect with you on a personal level have clearly made a tremendous difference and I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to her. But your willingness to open up about your initial emotional struggles is something that shouldn't be overlooked; how you've progressed from that to being able to talk for a full hour is a testament to your strength and determination in addressing your issues. Additionally, your successful job interview is a significant step toward building a brighter future for yourself!

Keep up the fantastic work, and remember that you have already achieved so much. Your journey towards self-improvement and personal growth is something to be proud of. We wish you all the best as you continue moving forward and achieving your goals!
