"Emergency admission at Victoria Hospital"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service Victoria Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I went to see my GP who after examining me phoned for an ambulance.

The Paramedics who came were very reassuring.

I was admitted to Medical Admissions 1 of the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. The staff in the ward were brilliant I was given various tests kept overnight and given a diagnosis the next morning. In my ward were two elderly confused patients and the nurses care of them was exceptional-kind and compassionate.

The staff had to overnight deal with some noisy obstructive patients this was done cheerfully and without complaint-well done Medical Admissions 1

Dear "Granny"

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. Having to attend hospital can be a frightening experience, so I was delighted to hear of the re assurance you received and of the way in which staff behaved towards you and others. We know that kindness and compassion go a long way to making a patient feel at ease and it is great to hear that staff approached their work in this way.

I will be pleased to share your feedback with the staff and with the Management team who will be very happy to receive it.

Thank you once again for your post

Kind Regards

Louise Ewing

Update posted by Granny (the patient)

Thank you both for your responses.

Being new to this site I was unsure just how much to write.

As previously stated the Paramedics were reassuring as well as being kind and explaining everything to me.Whilst on the ward again everything was explained by all medical staff.I have mobility problems having had Polio and help was always there.

I have had negative experiences in hospital in the past but this time could find no fault.

I left hospital with a clear plan on how my condition is to be treated and follow up appointments came very quickly through the post.

Thank you NHS Fife you are going in the right direction!
