"Wonderful care given by NIAS"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a carer),

My nine year old who has asthma had developed a chest infection.  He had been given oral antibiotics steriods and inhalers by Gp.  Unfortunately my child deteriorated later than evening.  He had developed a temperature 39 became more short of breathe and his saturations dropped. His respiratory rate and heart rate increased I rang for an ambulance as my son was getting extremely fatigued with his breathing. I was extremely concerned.

Two amazing crew members arrived.  Eddie and Glenn.  They both assessed my son in a prompt manner providing my son and me right away with reassurance and comfort.  They stayed with my son until treatment was completed which was past their shift time.  Nothing was a bother.  They treated my nine year son with the highest level of compassion and respect.

It was heartening to learn how reassuring Eddie and Glen were with your son at what would have been a stressful time. I would like to share your feedback with Eddie and Glen and in order to locate them I would require the following information:

o Date and approximate time of the incident

If you are happy to share this information, I can be contacted at: Neil.gillan@nias.hscni.net

I hope your son is recovering well.

Best wishes,
