"RVH Belfast Covid Treatment Service"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Covid Outpatient & treatment service

(as a service user),

Having missed a Covid infection all the way through the pandemic my wife caught it last week and I did a test, purely as a precaution. I was shocked that I was positive then the symptoms started to appear.  It wasn't that bad - a rough cough and headache -  but I am a very vulnerable patient with terminal cancer.

We had spoken to our  GP and the next morning I was surprised to get a call from a Doctor from the Treatment unit at the RVH offering me monoclonal antibody treatment.  He was superb. He explained exactly what was involved and how it might help me reduce the risk of becoming seriously ill. He didn't oversell it but really inspired confidence.  I agreed and next morning reported to the clinic and was met at the door and taken straight through to the treatment room,  Again the Doctor and the Senior Nurse were calm and reassuring, explain everything and simply giving a sense of total professionalism and care. It was simply brilliant
