"I feel badly let down"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I am in my 70s. My GP in a phone conversation told me to phone for an ambulance to take me to hospital to have my asthma checked. They had phoned the ward, who would be waiting for me. As there was a 7-hour delay for an ambulance, a friend brought me in.

I am still in A&E. No-one has asked me about my breathing or tested it. When I enquired, I was told I'd have to wait for the medical ward. No-one can tell me how much longer I'll have to wait. I've found the communication abysmal. I feel badly let down, as though no-one cares. Most of the staff are pleasant.

Good afternoon,

I am sorry to read about your recent experience at Stepping Hill hospital Emergency Department.

The department and hospital is experiencing periods of significant demand and unfortunately this is impacting on waiting times.

I will share your feedback regarding the communication from staff with the team so they are aware and can address this going forward.

Kind regards,

Patient Experience Team
