I am allocated personal care twice a day. Before this new IT system came into plan my morning visits I was getting the same carer, who lives near me, almost daily. This was great because this carer was experienced and was picking up on things that was going wrong for example me not drying myself properly. Since the new IT system became live I’ve had multiple carers, my skin has broken down etc. To be honest the new IT system has been diabolical. In my case notes it states that I will not accept a male carer, due to me being a young single female, it’s not very nice to strip off to have a shower in front of a male carer. Tonight in walked a female carer and a male carer. Yes, I do have a male GP but he doesn’t see my personal bits. Surely service users have rights. The other night I received my tuck visit at 5:50pm, I believe tuck visits don’t start until 7pm If I was going to my bed at 5:50pm and my morning visit the next day would be at 8am, I would be stuck in my bed for 14 hours. When I phoned to complain I was met by “it’s all due to the new IT system”, which I do not accept, as all IT systems work perfectly until admin staff try to override the IT system. As I work in IT I know IT systems only work as good as the people who input the information.
