"Words cannot say how grateful we are"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My father in law collapsed at a friends house where he and his wife were having a dinner.

I got a call to get there ASAP as my father in law was unresponsive.

We called 999 and your handler Neil was just brilliant. I had to perform CPR as he had had stopped breathing, to say Neil kept me calm was an understatement. Without Neil, my father in law would not be with us.

We got him back breathing and about 10 minutes later your ambulance colleagues arrived. The two Gareth's along with Gerry and another young lady were just wonderful. We were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Words cannot say how grateful we are to all of the people involved, they cannot be thanked enough.

Dear Neil234

My name is Linsey Sheerin, Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care at Belfast Trust. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on care opinion. Our NIAS colleagues do an amazing job, from call handlers providing guidance, to the paramedics on scene. I sincerely hope your father in law has continued to make progress in his recovery.

However, I think it is important to acknowledge that your quick interventions and effective pre-hospital CPR, bought the time needed to ensure that your father in-law could be transported and treated in hospital. I have no doubt this was traumatic for your all, but a special recognition goes to you.

Well done

Linsey
