I want to give recognition to a team of Healthcare professionals who were involved in my dads care and made such a difference to his and my journey.
Dad was diagnosed in Scotland in October 2022 with Motor neurone disease (MND) and came to Northern Ireland to live with me and my family.
A team from Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Team that included Joanne (SALT), Ann (Dietitian) and Brian (Social Worker) were assigned to my dad. These 3 professionals went above and beyond not only for my dad but to help us as a family. We had frequent visits from them to our home and they were always at the end of the phone for advise when needed. I really don't think we could have coped without them. They had such a wealth of knowledge so share with us and were always open and honest regarding symptoms and management.
My dad always liked to see them coming as they showed him such kindness and empathy. My dad sadly passed away in September after a short stay in Foyle Hospice. This team helped me to arrange this admission when we were struggling to cope at home with dads symptoms.
A huge thank you to them all for making a difference.
