My son who has been diagnosed with autism has had ongoing problems with one tooth for a couple of months. His last experience was very rushed, not person centred and quite frankly delivered by a blunt clinician leaving him anxious about tonight's return with the same tooth.
We were greeted by a dentist who was very welcoming. Examined him and gave him the option of removing what was left. My son was anxious but he put him at ease quickly and was very down to earth. He explained things clearly and gave adequate processing times which was greatly appreciated.
He was quick and experienced in his practice and helped by a great dental nurse.
I am so grateful for this experience and thankful that it has restored a little faith in the dentist again for my boy. He felt so comfortable and super proud of himself for being able to manage, even making a joke about it on the way home.
I would love these two dental clinicians tonight to get the recognition they deserve on a hard, stormy, winter night shift as I am sure that every patient afterwards will recieve the same high quality of care that we did.
