"Emergency Gallbladder Removal"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Surgery (wards 19, 20, 24, 26 &29)

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Ward 20 in the RAH in Paisley last week with Acute Cholecystitis although I didn't know that at the time. I was in a lot of pain and very unwell when I was admitted and had been unable to eat at all or drink much for days. The Nurses and all the staff on the ward were so kind to me and made what was a painful and scary few days much more bearable. The treatment I received on the night I was admitted meant I could finally get some relief from the pain, sip water and even get some sleep. The whole time I felt like I was in good hands well looked after. I'd like to say a special thanks to Nurse Laura Beaton who was so kind and kind to me during my time in the ward and to Nurse Lesley who helped get me ready for discharge.

Unfortunately, my condition was such that I needed to have my gallbladder removed in an emergency surgery but I felt in very good hands with the surgeon Ms Gough and all the team down in Theatre. My surgery went well and I have been recovering really well since my discharge the day after my surgery.

I only wish I could remember the names of more of the excellent staff who provided my care while I was in the RAH, I really don't think I could have had better care or treatment anywhere else in the world.

Dear Starh77

I am sorry to hear that you had Acute Cholecystitis, I can appreciate that this was a worrying and anxious time for you. I am pleased that the nurses were there to support you and make this more time more bearable, especially Laura and Lesley. I am glad to hear that your surgery went well and that you have been recovering well.

It will be my pleasure to share your feedback with the staff in Ward 20 and Ms Gough.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Take Care

Nicole
