"Medical treatment after being hospitalised with shingles."

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Internal Medicine Community Hubs / Community Hub - Old Aberdeen Medical Practice

(as the patient),

Some months ago I woke up to find that my tongue had turned black, my body was covered in an itchy rash and I was feeling exhausted.  I had arranged to go for lunch with my family. When I met with them they couldn't believe how ill I looked and insisted that I phone my GP - which I did.  I then received a call from NHS 24 advising me to go to A&E, however a doctor at Aberdeen Health Village invited me to go there for an examination.  Once there I was advised to go to A&E at ARI.  I went home and packed a bag for an overnight stay.  I was admitted and spent the next 10 days in hospital.  I can only praise the medical staff for their care and treatment.  I was given oral and written support to understand what treatment I was given and why.

Following my discharge from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary I had a number of follow-up appointments in order to monitor my platlet levels, which had dropped to 2 on addmitance to hospital.

I have been attending Old Aberdeen Community Hub where I  have had regular blood tests.  I have to admit that I don't like blood samples being taken.  Today my blood samples were taken by Nurse Eileen.  I can only say that that was the smoothest needle insertion that |I have ever experienced.  Nicely done!  Eileen was friendly, professional and informative, I can't thank her enough for the care she provided.

Dear Patient Capri

I am sorry to hear of your recent illness and hope that you are well on the road to recovery.

I just want to thank you for leaving such lovely feedback for my staff member Eileen at Old Aberdeen Secondary care hub.

I have passed your kind words on to Eileen and shared with the wider team. It gives the team a real boost when such positive experiences are shared.

Once again, thank you for taking the time.

Kind Regards

Marie
