"District nurse palliative care team"

About: Fife Community Services / Community Palliative Care

(as a service user),

My dad was referred 4 days before he died. The service was invaluable and helped to ensure his death was peaceful.

The team is available 24/7 and all our calls were answered quickly. We required symptom control as the end of life approached and also family support. We made 3 calls that night and received a visit within an hour or less. The Marie Curie staff and overnight district nurses listened to our concerns and acted promptly. A GP also had to visit and was very reassuring and acted decisively on hearing our concerns. The daytime district nurses were also very caring and compassionate towards us all.

As a result my dad died peacefully surrounded by his family and we have memories of a peaceful death. I'm not sure this would have been the case if the service had not been involved.

Good morning Hollybush,

I am sorry to hear about your dad's passing and offer condolences at this sad time. I am pleased to read the palliative care district nurse line was a valuable resource to you and your family, I will be sure to share your lovely feedback with the team who handle the calls and the GP who attended.

I am sure my district nursing and Marie Curie colleagues will be equally pleased to read how their teams supported your dad and family.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such kind feedback to the teams involved.

Take care,

Lynnette
