"My husband’s journey"

About: Borders General Hospital / Acute Assessment Unit Borders General Hospital / Radiology Borders General Hospital / Respiratory Medicine

(as a relative),

My husband suddenly developed breathlessness over a short time and after an emergency GP appt we were sent to BGH. At this appointment we were treated so well at Borders Ambulatory Care by HCSW Alan (Hanson), other nursing staff (unfortunately I cannot remember their names), X-ray n CT scan personnel.

We met and were managed by Dr Jabal who has been so caring, helpful and compassionate- we are so thankful. Unfortunately it was not good news but we have felt very cared for and looked after since that initial appointment. We have had regular reviews and felt very valued and that people care.

The staff in outpatients - X-ray, CT, phlebotomists, ambulatory care, Dr Jabal and his colleagues, Clare and Janice (lung cancer specialist nurses) - have all been outstanding. We are so privileged to have such caring and compassionate staff in the Borders and we cannot thank you enough.

We know we have a difficult journey ahead but knowing the staff are by our sides and want to offer the best of care makes it feel we can do this.

Thank you to each and everyone of you we have had contact with - you are all outstanding.
