"You have helped and guided us in such a professional and compassionate way"

My husband has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer which is palliative. It has been a very difficult journey.  Last week his chest drain bag split so I contacted ward 102 to ask for help and advice.

I spoke to the ward clerk, Richard, who was so helpful and put me through to the relevant nurse - ANP Carol, who was absolutely outstanding. I cannot express my gratitude to her for allowing me to drive up from the Borders to get a new chest drain bag as I was so concerned re infection risk. She was so compassionate and caring to myself and my 2 friends who accompanied me. She talked me through changing the bag and went above and beyond ensuring I was OK and had enough supplies.  

The ward is so busy but I cannot thank the staff, Dr Chambers and his team as well as their HDU (nurse Kim) for all the care my husband has received and the compassion shown to my family.

Thank you everyone on cardio thoracic wards hdu n 102 - you are all exceptional.  It is not the future I want going forward but thanks to you all, you have helped and guided us in such a professional and compassionate way I am forever grateful.  Please ensure the relevant names staff and their wider team are made aware - sorry I do not know the names of all of them.
