"Their care and love for their patient was exemplary"

About: Forest Holme

(as a relative),

It was a very sad moment when I was informed my wife was not expected to live much longer.

Her care was transferred from Poole Cancer Centre to Forest Holme Poole, where it was discussed what degree of palliative care she and the family would like. We were offered the option of having her admitted to Forest Holme but decided unanimously that we wished to care for her at home, but have nurses come in each morning and attend to her personal needs and if necessary change the bedding.

The nurses always arrived in pairs and usually with a smile on their faces. My wife would chat to them while they attended to her and she always felt more comfortable afterwards. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble for them to do and their care and love for their patient was exemplary.

We also received phone calls from Forest Holme to check how things were going.

Inevitably the day came when my wife passed peacefully away, with both myself and our daughter holding her hands.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your wife's care and the difference the nurses made in the last weeks of her life. How wonderful that you and your daughter were both there with her at the very end.

With best wishes to you and your family,
