My partner was admitted early hours of the morning in October. He is asthmatic but had acute onset of breathing difficulties. After being on AMU throughout Wednesday he worsened suddenly early hours of Thu morning. He has explained he could see a bright light and was feeling like he was slipping away.
The amazing staff at this hospital not only saved his life with swift action, he was treated with the utmost care and respect and dignity. As was I when I arrived panicked but trying to remain calm. His care was second to none on ICU (B9). Unfortunately I can't remember his named nurse's name, she had the best bedside manner, understood that we needed a little humour and banter in a gentle way and was so kind.
These staff are not given the credit they deserve. From the porters to the consultants. He is now on C26 and recovering really well. I am in tears typing this as I will never be able to express my gratitude to the National Health Service for what they do, the long hours, the pressure, the difficult times and the losses they experience. From my family we thank you so deeply, words will never ever be enough. Thank you for saving the love of my life.
