"My mothers care at Pitlochry community Hospital"

About: Pitlochry Community Hospital / Community In-patient Wards

(as a relative),

My mother fell and fractured her knee, so after a week at Ninewells hospital in Dundee, she was transferred to the Pitlochry community hospital as she had plaster on her leg and was not safe to go home. My mother also has vascular dementia.

She has been at the community hospital for nearly 2 months, whilst waiting for a suitable care home after being assessed as needing more care and not safe to go home.

In that time she has been treated with the utmost care and respect. The plaster was taken off her leg and she has had wonderful support to help her walk safely again.

She was also given medication to help deal with the times when her dementia made her frustrated and angry. The medication was monitored,

Tweaked and changed until a suitable one was found. This has made a world of difference to her happiness and well being.

I was also recommended  by the advanced nurse practioner one of the companion cats, which has been invaluable to my mum.

I had never previously heard of them.

At all times I was kept informed of the treatments and medication being given to my mum, and knew that Kirsty was doing her absolute best to help my mum.

It is fair to say that everyone at the hospital has been brilliant.
