I attended A&E at the Vic early hours Tuesday morning and I was taken within minutes to resus. Being an immunocompromised patient I have to be very careful when unwell and they took my situation very seriously. All relevant tests, fluids and medications were done/administered swiftly and I was reassured immensely by the care and attention.
I was in A&E for 12 hours while waiting for a bed on the ward to become available for overnight care, this is no fault of the NHS staff and I fully understand, being a nurse myself, unfortunately it reflects the absolute strain and disappointment we all feel within our NHS.
I was admitted to AU2 for overnight fluids and pain relief, I can’t thank all the staff enough, from the gentleman nurse who kept calm on triage even when my HR was 260, and did everything needed very fast, to every member of staff who came in and out to do bloods, meds, or just history. The nursing assistant who admitted me to AU2, and Christine and Caitlin who looked after me during my stay. My family and I are very grateful.
"Superb care"
