My experience of delivering my baby boy in June this year was excellent.
After my waters broke at home I came up to FAU where I was then assessed and admitted to antenatal ward. After dilating to 3cm over 5 hours and having contractions every 2 minutes I was transferred to the labour ward where I was to be given an epidural.
Once I got the labour ward I met my midwife Rachel who was amazing from the start. She gave me gas and air and put me at ease straight away. She completed notes, did bloods and organised for me to have an epidural.
Although baby had other ideas, as when she examined me she found that I had dilated to 10cm. She was an incredible support as she talked me through each stage, what to do, what to expect and even how to breathe. In the end I needed an episiotomy to get my baby boy here safely, again this was explained to me at each stage.
When my baby was born and I was having stitches she was great keeping me at ease and addressing any issues or concerns I had. We are so grateful to all the staff, including Terri who came in when I was delivering my baby and helped complete his initial observations.
Thank you all so much. These women are amazing at what they do.
