"Doctor Patient Care"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre

(as the patient),

I attended radiotherapy for 5 1/2 weeks and also took part in a clinical trial for rectal cancer. I was assured by my doctor that they would be seeing me every week because of this. They didn't.

I saw them once only and on two separate occasions they actually failed to book in my weekly check up leaving me feeling like an idiot when I went to the clinic and no member of staff knew anything about it. This actually included my final appointment!

Despite being in extreme pain, being taken to the QEUH with heavy bleeding and contacting the nurses for support they never once contacted me to ask about my health!

The level of unprofessionalism and lack of care is staggering and has indeed made my mental health worse.

I felt abandoned by this institution.
