I recently went for a routine appointment with my GP, Dr. McBrien - who is wonderful - at Cuilcagh Medical Practice, Derrylin. She did my BP and noticed that it was a little high. I happened to mention that my mum had a heart condition, so the GP did an ECG which showed an irregular heartbeat. She suggested I go to A&E to get checked.
So I went to Southwest Hospital, Enniskillen, expecting to have to wait for a long time, but as soon as I had given in my letter from the GP I was taken to be monitored, put on a drip, and given a tablet. I couldn't have had better treatment.
I was then taken to the Assessment Unit of the Cardiac department and was seen by Dr.Khann, who was a lovely person. They looked at my observations and put me on some treatment, and I was told I would see a consultant at some point in the future.
I had an appointment with the Cardiologist, Dr. Kinos who was very good. They put me on a tablet and booked me in for a cardioversion. I was treated like a queen in the cardiac ward.
I had the Cardioversion which worked for me temporarily.
I am currently not happy with the medication I am on, so I called Dr Kinos' secretary, who was good. She got me an appointment to see the consultant earlier than the planned appointment I have booked in.
I couldn't have asked for better treatment, and I have never had anything but wonderful treatment.
You just want someone you can trust and someone who cares, and I had all that.
