"Lack of consistency in Maternity Journey"

About: Community Midwifery Services / Continuity of Midwifery Carer Service

(as a service user),

At my first scan around 12 weeks I was told I would be part of Continuity of Midwifery Carer but unfortunately this did not happen.

I have had a different midwife each time I visited which led to me having to repeat my story on each occasion.

I am planning and preparing to transform maternity services by implementing the regional Continuity of Midwifery Carer model within the Western Trust

Dear circinusxz74

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to share your experience on your care to date. As a trust, we appreciate all feedback as this ensures we continuously improve our services.

Secondly, I apologise that your experience has not been what is expected. As continuity of midwifery carer is a new model of care for women, it continues to be monitored and progressed.

I have left you my contact details below and encourage you to get in contact with me directly so I can look into this further. Your feedback will help us improve and progress women's care.

I will share your feedback with the wider maternity team for learning.

Kind Regards

Mairead McCaffrey,

Continuity of midwifery carer, lead midwife
