Following radical surgery for bowel cancer, and after a week in HDU, I was transferred to ward 11 for two and a half weeks. I was still very unwell and needed a lot of care. This ward delivered that care with kindness, professionalism, and compassion.
It was a real team approach, a really joined up experience and I’m so grateful for all of the kind nurses and healthcare workers who supported me so carefully.
I can’t remember all the names, so forgive me but I must mention the following: staff nurses Anna and Chloe for going the extra mile when I needed extra care. Staff nurse Amy for her kindness. So many staff nurses were so thoughtful that I also must mention Emily, Lewis, James and the other Chloe!
I was also very well looked after by a number of kind health care support folk, including the legendary Audrey, and of course Amanda, Wendy, Cammi and Kevin. And apologies to those who’s names I’ve forgotten.
My operation and recovery was tough, but all of these kind folk on this truly exemplary ward really got me through it. Thank you to Sheryl and the whole team. Many thanks.
"Kindness, professionalism and compassion"
