"Aortic Valve replacement, + pacemaker and Hip replacement"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Cardiology Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Clinical assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Discharge Lounge Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in mid-December 2022. I had severe pain in my Kidneys. After examination, they discovered my heart was firing out clots and 1 had hit my kidneys and another my spleen. It was also established my body was riddled with infection and I was put on a course of Intravenous antibiotics. In January I was transferred to Edinburgh Royal for an operation replacing my aortic valve and a pacemaker fitted. I was transferred back to Forth Valley to complete my course on intravenous antibiotics. I was released in mid-March and had been in hospital for a total of 10 weeks.   I should have had a right hip replaced in March, but this was delayed until August and I have just had my 6 weeks review.  I  cannot thank all in the NHS enough, from the domestics through to the surgeons the care service and commitment were outstanding. It was a difficult time for me and my family, but without a doubt, I would not be alive today without the care and attention given to me by the NHS staff. They are working under extreme pressure, but their commitment and compassion shine like a beacon.  They are a credit to the medical profession and deserve all the praise they receive. I will be ever grateful to all of them and I will be able to remain in contact with both Coronary and Angioplasty as I have been issued with helpline numbers if I require further assistance. Thank you  all, I will continue to sing  your praise.

Thank you so much for your feedback which I'm sure the team will be most grateful for. I will ensure I share it with them.

I hope you are recovering well. Thanks for taking time out as it seems like this has been a rough journey for you and I am pleased we helped make it slightly easier.

Update posted by Grateful1946 (the patient)

It was my pleasure, I cannot praise all the staff of the NHS seen or unseen who work so hard and do not always get thanked and appreciated as they should.
