"My premature baby"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Special Care Baby Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My baby arrived six weeks early, which came as quite the shock. I really wasn’t prepared for meeting my little bundle, so there was a lot of mixed emotions - obviously joy and excitement, but also anxiety and stress, as I was worried about the complications of having a premature baby.

I was told more than likely that my baby will have to go to SCBU. I really didn’t fully comprehend what SCBU was or how long she would be there for, but was anxious that I wouldn’t be with my baby or she wouldn’t be coming home with me.

The team on the SCBU at Daisy Hill were absolutely amazing!! I couldn’t praise them enough for all that they did for my baby and me.

Hello Bay B Ward,

Thank you for sharing your feedback through Care Opinion on your experience in SCBU. Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your baby. It is such an anxious time when your baby needs to stay in hospital and I am delighted that you were so well supported within SCBU and they will be really pleased to hear your kind words.

I hope your baby has made a full recovery and I wish you all the best.

Kind regards

Jodie
