"A very disappointing experience"

About: Children and Young People Services / Health Visiting

(as a service user),

My child was assigned a lovely health visitor after her birth. After 10 weeks the health visitor unexpectedly retired and we weren't contacted about having another one.

When I rang to request another health visitor I was told that there wasn't enough staff to assign one to me and my child. My child was only 10 weeks old. Because of this her speech disorder went unnoticed, she didn't receive her 2-year review until she was 3-and-a-half years old and she didn't receive her 1-year vaccinations until she was 2 years old.

I spoke about my concerns in regards to speech, sleep etc and felt I was just palmed off by anyone I spoke to. It was a very disappointing experience as a first-time mum.

I am so sorry you have received such a poor service from our health visiting department. This is not the experience I want or expect for any of our families. I would be grateful if you would phone me to discuss.

Many Thanks Marie Doran Lead Nurse for Health Visiting - 07818516810
