"I hope many other children get this invaluable opportunity"

About: Specialist Child Health & Disability / Speech and Language Therapy Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My son attended a speech and language summer group ran by the SHSCT.

He was able to get to meet other children with the same difficulties and him, and work through his feelings in a safe environement, it had had such a positive effect on his self confidence.
Not only did he benefit in many ways by attending the group session but he thoroughly enjoyed attending.
The staff were very professional and engaging throughout. When the week was over he was disappointed and has missed the support.
Both my son and myself can't thank Cherith and her team for the work they put in to make this happen. I hope many other children get this invaluable opportunity.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time out to share your story. It is wonderful to hear such positive feedback regarding the summer groups organized by our SLTs Kerith and Claire. They are excellent speech and language therapists with a keen interest in supporting children to manage their stammer. I am delighted to hear how professional and engaging you found them and it is wonderful that your son benefitted so much. Isn't it great that he enjoyed the experience so much too?! As a service, spurred on by your story, we will certainly endeavor to maintain this high standard. Wishing your son every success in the future.

This was a great opportunity for your son to gain skills & confidence in a safe and supportive environment. well done to him for participating fully in this group and I hope that he continues to grow in confidence as he manages his stammer outside this group.
