My parents, both in their 90 's live alone with some help from family members. My father began to feel unwell so doctor was called from our local gp in West Belfast. When the doctor came it was decided he needed hospital treatment and had pneumonia. My father could think of nothing worse than going to hospital and at that age our fear was he would never come out again. Whatever conversation the doctor had on the phone and with who I am not sure but from that point on my father got ALL the treatment he required. A few days later my mother too contracted covid. Over the next I would say 14 days at least the care they received was out of this world. Not only where they able to be together but in the comfort of their own home in familiar surroundings but the specialist care was fantastic. From doctors to nurses, physios and speech therapist and later the social worker. All calling regularly throughout this period gave us all such comfort. They thankfully have both recovered which I am sure would not have been the case if they had been moved from their home. We cannot thank all of the staff enough. Such a wonderful service which we could not fault one bit. Thank you
