"Forever thankful for having such a positive birth experience."

About: Maternity care / Ward 46 (post-natal) Maternity care / Ward 48 (labour ward) Maternity care / Ward 49 (neonatal intensive care unit NNICU)

(as the patient),

I recently gave birth to my baby boy at the start of September. I was admitted at 37+6 days to be induced and the care I received on the antenatal ward was absolutely amazing. I also want to thank Dr Lavery for the care we received. I am so thankful for everything he done in making sure my baby arrived safe and sound due to the risks that were involved.

To the staff in the labour ward, I honestly had the best experience in labour. I was greeted by Briege who made me feel so at ease, the relaxing music also helped. To the day staff who took over from Briege including a student (I wish I could remember your names), I couldn’t have got through my labour without your encouragement every step of the way. I am also very thankful for Rebecca who made me feel so empowered in my final stages of delivery. I’ve never met a girl so kind.

To NICU, thank you for the care and attention giving to my newborn baby shorty after delivery, especially Belle - we were so blessed to have you looking after our baby boy.

To the postnatal staff, thank you for everything you done during our 4 day stay. As a first time mum, I felt vulnerable at times however the midwives were absolutely fantastic in supporting and caring for myself & my baby, nothing was a bother. I am forever thankful for having such a positive birth experience.

Hi Septt23,

Thank you so much for getting in touch and sharing your experience with us. Also a big congratulations to you on the birth of your new son, I hope you are enjoying every second!

I am so delighted your pregnancy, birth and beyond experience was so positive. As a maternity team, this is what it is all about for us. Despite your risks, you sound like you were able to have the experience you wanted and be a partner in your own care.

Dr Lavery is on the ward today and he was absolutely delighted and humbled by his 'shout out'. A compliment like this really boosts morale and reinforces that the efforts we are making are having a positive impact on the experience of families like yourselves.

I will be sure to share with the rest of the team!

Thanks again and take care,

Shonagh Clifford
