Arrived at FVRH emergency department with a bad dog bite, was taken by two nurses for an assessment - they asked a few questions, never checked the wound and says that we would have to attend Minor Injuries within Stirling Community Hospital.
We have been in the situation before with a dog bite and told them this and that Stirling would send us here, they still insisted we go to Stirling and that they would stitch it and clean it, etc. We told the nurses that the bite was that bad it would need to be surgery to clean it out and stitch the wound as we have been in a situation like this before and know the procedure, but unfortunately they did not listen.
We went to Stirling, seen by a lovely nurse, explained the story and they agreed that we were right and told us that Stirling Community Minor Injuries do not stitch dog bites. They called FVRH ED and explained we were coming back up.
I feel this is outrageous, my partner has been sent from hospital to hospital because the two nurses at FVRH don't seem to have any idea what they’re doing and in my view just couldn’t be bothered to listen to what we were saying or even take the bandages off and check my partner's wound!
I work in a professional job myself and I know that if I dealt with a situation like this I would be ashamed of myself, I believe some people should just not be nurses. Get your staff sorted out.
