My wife and I made 2 visits to Grimsby hospital recently. We used the car park and paid by card. A few days later I routinely checked my statement and was alarmed to see 2 small payments to Bidvest Noonan UK Ltd - City of London. Was this the start of a scam? Were they testing out my security? I googled them, the website is quite bland, saying they provide services to many companies. This was not reassuring. I had a few moments panic until I realised they were the car parking charges.

Surely arrangements can be made to describe the payments better. Why not Grimsby Hospital car parking. Such a technological company should be able to do this. Perhaps I was slow or a bit stupid, but I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Thank you for your patience, I contacted our lead for car parking yesterday and they have offered the following assurance for you:

We are sorry the information you received on your statement mislead you to think that it may be the beginning of a scam this is certainly not the case. As administrators for the revenue flow from Car parking at Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust the monies are firstly sent to Bidvest Noonan UK who process all payments and then credit the monies back to the Trust. As administrators the address registered for the payments to go to is Bidvest Noonan UK – City of London which is the location of the bank the company use.

I hope this helps explain the transaction and we note your point about the simplicity of language for people and will review this going forward. Thank you.

Thank you for the response, but you only told me what I eventually discovered for myself.

My point is that the payment reference on the credit card statement makes no mention of Grimsby hospital car park. Instead it refers to a company no one has heard of.

Perhaps I am more wary than most credit card users, but a payment to Bivest Noonan UK, City of London means nothing, and looks strange. Surely they could put a reference to the hospital on the payment reference.
