"Amazing care from the midwifery team"

About: Maternity care / Consultant Led Unit Maternity care / Maternity Ward

(as a service user),

In September I went in to have my son. The staff were very warm and welcoming. I spent a day and a bit in the induction suite where one  morning I had a bit of an emotional breakdown.  My midwife, Amelia, was amazing  - she noticed a change in my emotion and when I was upset she sat with me for a bit,  ensuring I was OK and taking  time to understand what happened.  I couldn't have asked for a better midwife that morning.

I was then transferred to the CLU in the afternoon where I was going to give birth to my son.  Staff midwife Saskia was outstanding and after a bit of a terrifying start to the beginning of my labour she stayed calm and collected from the start of breaking my waters to the point that the doctors reg etc were in having to prep me for theatre in case.  Without a doubt Saskia ensured that the process and mood remained calm and  at just after 5:00 pm I was able to go into natural labour without having an emergency c-section.

Worries aside, Saskia kept an amazing chill mood in the room and as much as there was a shift change over just before I gave birth she supported me amazingly with the arrival of my son being born so smoothly. The staff handover was done to ensure that me and baby were fine and that at the time I needed to deliver the staff and student that delivered my son just after handover were outstanding.  I had a natural delivery without any complications or issues.

The experience as a whole was amazing and I want the staff to know that I appreciated every single one of them that look after me up until Thursday afternoon when we were discharged. So Thank

Congratulations on the birth of your son. We are extremely pleased that your experience has been what we aspire it to be.

Feeling supported, informed and listened to, is key to having a positive birth experience. Having a baby and becoming a mother is an emotional time and how wonderful you felt safe even when vulnerable to voice those emotions. I will ensure Amelia and Saskia are aware of your very kind words.

Thank you, Take Care.
