I have been receiving treatment from New Forest Drug & Alcohol Service (Inclusion) for many years. I am happy to say that I've finally been "discharged" as I am maintaining my recovery for the first time in my life, and no longer need support or opiate replacement therapy.
Kerry has been my keyworker for several years, she has been brilliant throughout. I feel she "gets" me, often more than I do myself. She has never been afraid to go "off script" and delve into discussions on wider topics, ask challenging questions and try different approaches. As an addict I have sometimes tended to instinctively push back when I'm told "drugs are bad, stop doing them".
Discussing wider questions, such as why do humans do anything - or indeed, exploring what it means to be human at all - encouraged me to give more thought to all of my behaviours, which helped me get out of the vicious cycle which was my life for far too long. In the end I had to reach the point where I'd truly had enough of the drug life, but Kerry guided me through that long process, and she always believed I could do it, even when I didn't think so myself or, at times, even really want to.
Thank you for your constant support, for offering an oasis of clear thought in an otherwise hectic life!
