"Hard to return to cancer centre from Crossroads canteen"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / North West Cancer Centre

(as a service user),

I was attending North West Cancer centre and had to get some food so I went to the new canteen/restaurant Crossroads as it was the closest eatery.

The restaurant was very clean, well stocked with a great selection to eat and the food was beautiful and reasonably priced I must say. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Getting to the restaurant was easy, it was just 3 sets of double doors. Getting back was the hard bit. Card access was not required getting to the restaurant however it was not clear that swipe access through 2 sets of the double doors was required going back again to the north west cancer centre.

I was standing for a considerable length of time until someone happened to be walking past. There wasn't even a buzzer so I could buzz someone and had no phone on me. I was tired but feeling OK however on reflection if I had not been feeling well this could have been a different story. I think this is a potential safety issue that needs to be addressed.

Dear Yankeeks44

I am Celia Diver-Hall, Macmillan Nursing Service Manager at the North West Cancer Centre and I would like to thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent visit to the new restaurant "Cross Roads".

I will share your feedback with the relevant teams so that they can review and improve the access between the NWCC and the restaurant

Thanks

Celia
