"I just wanted to praise the care received"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Lady Margaret Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

3 days before we were due to go on holiday my son jumped off a hill and injured his shoulder. We live on Millport and it was after the last ferry so we attended Lady Margaret Hospital where they admitted him overnight for pain control for a suspected dislocated shoulder with possible fracture. I collected my son in the morning and took him to Crosshouse A&E where we were triaged within half an hour. After being triaged we were seen by a Dr then had a couple of xrays then as we were going on holiday the shoulder orthopedic specialist agreed to see my son there and then. He had dislocated his AC shoulder joint but the specialist said he could go on holiday with the sling on and would review him when we got back. My son was seen in clinic after we got home and his shoulder pain and mobility was much better. The specialist remembered him and asked about our holiday.

I just wanted to praise the care received both at Lady Margaret and Crosshouse, the speed in which we were seen and the care in which my son received.

Dear Gill80

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the care services both at Lady Margaret Hospital and at Crosshouse. This must have been a very distressing time for you all and I do hope your son is well on his way to recovery.

As the senior manager for Lady Margaret Hospital it is always nice to receive feedback and I am really pleased to hear that your son was treated quickly and with care. I will be sure to pass on your feedback to the staff.

With kind regards and best wishes

Dear Gill80

I would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback following your son’s recent admission to the Emergency Department within University Hospital Crosshouse.

Like my colleague, Karen, at the Lady Margaret Hospital, I am glad to hear that your son received such prompt and professional care, from our staff following his fall and subsequent shoulder injury. It must have been an anxious time for you.

I am delighted to hear that your son was able to go on holiday, with a sling to support his shoulder and a review appointment in place for when you got back

Please accept my good wishes for your son’s ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
