My daughter was referred to Ophthalmology in the Royal Belfast by her Optician. From the minute we arrived on the ward we couldn’t have been taken greater care of.
The ward itself was beautiful, colourful, welcoming and friendly. We were seen to a room efficiently where we met the Play therapist who gave my daughter a canvas to draw for their art gallery. My daughter loves being creative and this was right up her street! It also distracted her between each professional that came in to see her as she couldn’t wait to get back to it. Everyone we met was super friendly, explained what they were doing, informative and just reassuring.
I have severe health anxiety due to my husband having stage IV melanoma and i’m sure they took this into careful consideration and were so thorough with my daughter. After assessment they referred her on to the necessary places and let us know they’d follow up with a review in 8 weeks. It was a stress free experience and my daughter was not stressed or worried in the slightest which is great as she can be a wee worrier. So thank you to all we met in the children’s ophthalmology service Level 8 The Royal Belfast.
