"The help and support from start to finish was absolutely amazing"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI)

(as a relative),

My mum was diagnosed with stomach cancer just after having a perforated ulcer and then the results of further biopsy taken last year.  To be told this news we were absolutely devastated as she seemed to be doing so well after recovering from her perforated ulcer.

We were then introduced to Kerys, who was my mum's GI clinical support nurse. She was absolutely amazing with my mum and the help and support she's given us as a family from start to finish was absolutely amazing.

Kerys was so approachable, reliable and was always there to offer help and support to us all, whether that be on the telephone or face to face at appointments, or just popping in to visit mum in the hospital to see how she was doing.

She was definitely someone my mum always looked forward to seeing and knew if she had any concerns at all she could always speak to her and the help and support was always there, not just for my mum but for us as a family as well.

Having someone like Kerys whilst going through this tough journey really did make such difference to us all

Dear Sharano,

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback about your care experience in what has clearly been a very sad and difficult time for you, it means a lot.

I am reassured by the fact you felt you had somebody you could turn to and that you could rely on the cancer nurse specialist for ongoing support throughout your mum's care journey.

I think I speak on behalf of all of the cancer nurse specialists, in that we strive to make a small difference to patients and their families, going through often the most difficult time of their lives.

We really do appreciate your time and words, and please do take good care.

Kerys
